Remembrance Parade 8th November 2020 Cancelled

Remembrance-page-001

It is with sincere regret that, in the interest of public safety due to Covid-19, the decision has been made to cancel this year’s Remembrance Parade in Coleshill.  However, the day should not be forgotten and the Royal  British Legion are encouraging ‘Remembrance from Home’. They have many innovative ideas on their website of how to get involved with fundraising and acts of remembrance from home including downloadable poppies and teaching resources, please visit their website on www.britishlegion.org.uk

As always Coleshill High Street will be festooned with Poppies to signify our Town’s collective remembrance.  If you wish to take photos of your acts of remembrance from home and share them on social media use the hashtags #TwoMinuteSilence #coleshillremembers or @coleshillparish

The Parish Church will be having a short Remembrance Service with a reduced number in the congregation. Entrance to the Service is by pre-booked seat only, with priority for tickets given to current and ex-service men and women and to those who have a wreath to lay on behalf of a local society or organisation, via Zoe Hillcox at Coleshill Town Council on zoe@coleshilltowncouncil.gov.uk or 01675 463326. To discourage the gathering of people outside the church there will not, this year, be the traditional broadcast of the service on speakers outside, there will also not be a formal wreath laying ceremony, those wishing to lay a wreath who are not coming to the church service are encouraged to do so anytime during the Sunday. There will however be a live broadcast of the service on Facebook live on the @coleshillparish Facebook page

We hope that you are still able to participate in memory of the fallen in a Covid-safe way.  As the Royal British Legion website says “we encourage everyone make Remembrance their own – however you choose to remember”.
