HS2 Notification: Possible continuation of works, requiring a temporary, weekend road closure on sections of the B4438 and A452 on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd of August 2021

We are remodelling and improving sections of the existing road network in the area and creating new routes on HS2 land. These road improvements will ensure that when the future station is operational, the local road network is fit for purpose. Upon completion, a new T-junction will replace Northway Island. A new ‘longabout’ is already in operation outside the Holiday Inn Express NEC, on the way to the National Exhibition Centre (NEC).

We started the creation of the new T-junction in April 2021. To enable us to continue to connect parts of the existing road network, to the new routes we create, a series of weekend road closures will be installed in 2021 near Northway Island.

To carry out this programme safely, we will be installing a temporary, weekend road closure on short sections of the B4438 (northbound) and A452 (both directions), near Northway Island, from 8pm on Friday 13 August through to 5am on Monday 16 August. A signed diversion route will be in place for road users during the weekend road closure. The relevant information regarding this closure is available in this notification. In addition to this, we may need to repeat this closure on the following weekend from 6am on Saturday 21^st of August, until  20:00pm on Sunday 22^nd of August. The closure extents and diversion should be the same as the weekend of the 13 August, but we will confirm the exact details on Monday 16 August.
