After a resignation, there is a vacancy for a Coleshill Town Councillor to represent Coleshill North.  The Town Council, having advertised the vacancy for the required number of days, is now able to co-opt to this position.  A candidate for a Parish or Town Council is qualified for normal election if –

  1. They are a British subject or Irish citizen,
  2. Is 18 years of age, and
  3. Is either in the list of electors for that Parish or Town or has during the whole of the preceding twelve months:
  • occupied land as owner or tenant in it, or
  • had a principal place of work there, or
  • resided in or within three miles of it.

Prospective councillors should have an active interest and concern for their local community.  They will represent local people and work in partnership with them and others when necessary.  They will help facilitate the provision of local services and facilities and make decisions that form the policy of the Council.

You should consider becoming a Town Councillor if:

  1. You want to do more for your community,
  2. You want to spend your time productively,
  3. You can think, listen and act locally.

 

Anyone interested in the vacancy should write or email to the Town Clerk (see contact details above) with a maximum of a 250-word personal statement.  The timetable is:

1p.m. Monday 21 March – deadline for submission of interest to the Town Clerk.

Evening of Wednesday 23 March – interviews by current Councillors (Town Hall).

Wednesday 30 March – formal co-option by the Full Council.
