Reminder – LM on behalf of HS2 – Revised traffic rerouting around Northway Island from Monday 19 July to late August 2021

Good afternoon neighbour,

 

We would like to remind you that LM (Laing O’Rourke and J. Murphy & Sons) will install a new direction of travel for road users around Northway Island from Monday 19 July on behalf of HS2.

 

From Monday 19 July to late August 2021, two short sections of Northway Island will be closed. Depending on your direction of travel, road users will no longer be able to travel around the whole of the Island and you may be redirected from Northway Island, along the A452 or B4438, and back. You will still be able to access all routes, there will just be a short diversion from some parts of Northway Island. Direction of travel along the B4438, A452 and Northway will be unaffected.

 

Furthermore, we will install temporary traffic lights on Sunday 18 July from 10am to 1pm on a short section of the A452 off Northway Island.

Pathway Improvement in the Cemetery Extension

You may wonder why there are Public Path Diversion Order signs in the field alongside the Coleshill Cemetery?
The County Council refer to the path that runs down from the opening to the field and running across at a diagonal in the direction of Maxstoke as M67 Pathway.  The reasons for the diversions are centred around the fact that two acres of this field are to be the cemetery extension.  The path will be made more attractive as it is diverted in that:
  • Walkers can go around the perimeter of the graves area rather than having to walk through them
  • The paths will be two metres wide rather than a thin track
  • The paths will be in sturdy concrete rather than muddy soil and
  • There are to be benches and bins provided around the perimeter.
The notices ask for any representations or objections.  We hope the above explains the diversion and why it is beneficial to all visitors.

The Coleshill Hub – a community space and place in Coleshill, North Warwickshire – continues to support and connect local people.

In line with the government’s Build Back Better campaign, the Hub is encouraging the local community to get back onto the high street and get involved in North Warwickshire-based events.

The Hub provides information about what is on in Coleshill, signposting its visitors to events and activities, helping to support local tourism, as well as giving answers to the all-important questions local people have about HS2.

“After such a challenging and isolating year for many, it’s great to be able to connect local people with their community again,” says Charlie Painter, Hub Co-ordinator.

“We remained open wherever possible throughout the pandemic and provided whatever support we possibly could, including socially distant garden visits, shopping, and phone calls, but it’s fantastic to be able to support the community properly again.

“For many visitors coming to The Hub, we are their first step towards getting them the help they need. We help them no matter what their challenge may be. The Hub has a wide network of local and national partners – we signpost local people to the right services.

The Coleshill Hub is now open again to visitors, Monday to Friday between 10am and 1pm. Visitors need to wear face coverings and there is a limit to the number allowed in at any one time.

The Hub was recently involved in the Coleshill Local Arts Week – a week-long event held in the Old Market Hall in Coleshill. Local artist, Peter Scott, and STITCH (Sewing Together In The Coleshill Hub) showcased their work. There were also pop-up shops from Wicks of Water Orton, Jewellery from Dianne and a pre-loved art sale from Mary Ann Evans Hospice.

The week also featured a display from Wessex Archaeology, who provided fantastic displays and information about the HS2 archaeology site, the Romans in Coleshill and education about the Bronze Age.

Children from St Edwards Catholic Primary, The Coleshill School and Woodlands inclusive school displayed paintings, drawings and models of different areas of Coleshill.

“Seeing local events happening again, like the Coleshill Local Arts Week, is incredible. We feel honoured and incredibly lucky to be a part of that drive towards connecting people with their local community again,” says Helen Whittaker, Community and Partnership Manager at Coleshill Town Council.

“Our message to the local community is that we are all in this together. You are not alone. There is always someone who wants to help you. The Hub is just one example of that. So whatever you’re up against, pop in to The Hub and let’s see what we can do.”

The Town Council may be able to attract some grant money towards some street art, like murals, displays, flags, bunting and temporary art or sculptured features.  We are seeking interest and support from local artists or companies that would want to contribute and provide some of these features.  Some of the features might be temporary but others more permanent. As far as the sculptured feature, it could be working in a range of materials.

Coleshill Country Market is celebrating a happy return from late March [the first market is March 19th ] after months of closure due to lockdown. The first few markets will be slightly smaller than usual, running from 9.00am until noon each Friday, from the gazebo in the garden of the Parish Room at 132 High Street, Coleshill. On sale will be a mouth-watering selection of home-baked cakes and savouries plus eggs, home-grown plants, preserves and bird food.  Covid requirements will be in place, with producers and customers expected to wear a mask and keep a 2-metre distance from others.

“We’re all excited to get up and running again,” said Market Manager Janet Reilly. Our customers have really missed the high-quality produce and the warm welcome they get every Friday morning. Now seems like a great time to re-start, thanks to the highly-successful vaccine programme and there’s real optimism in the air. Before lockdown we were enjoying record sales with a wide variety of delicious home-cooked food, gifts, crafts and produce, and, we’re very much looking forward to seeing all our customers – our regulars and those new to the area.

We’re always delighted to have new producers too and if you enjoy cooking, gardening or crafts, please consider joining us. It’s friendly, fun and we’ll help you decide what to produce and how to package it. You can join the market for just 5p. Everyone is paid for what they sell at the end of each month after we’ve taken a small fee to cover the cost of running the Market. Availability of Coleshill Town Council outdoor facilities during lockdown from 5th January 2021

Unfortunately, due to the current regulations from Central Government, the following alterations have been made to the availability of our outdoor facilities.  We hope this helps to clarify the situation for everyone and encourage you to look after yourselves as well as you can within the limitations of the current situation.  We hope that you all stay well and look forward to offering the use of these facilities again, when we are directed to do so safely.

The guidance given here is based on the advice as of 5th January 2021 and this may change.  Please always strictly adhere to Central Government Guidance and NHS guidance at all times to keep yourself and others safe.

Tennis courts

Outdoor courts should not be used and they will therefore be locked.

Children’s Play equipment

Specific advice from Government is that these should stay open to use. Please adhere to the advice on the posters on-site regarding Covid-secure use; stay safe and adhere to national restrictions.

 Outdoor gym equipment items

Unfortunately, the outdoor gym equipment will be out of use and taped off.

 Football pitches

All amateur football games are not permitted.  The Council has removed the goalposts to discourage groups playing and to allow the grass on the goal mouths to recover. We will be carrying out essential maintenance of the pitches during this period.
