Afternoon Tea hosted by Coleshill Remembers

On Saturday 23rd May the Town Hall was filled with Coleshill residents past and present enjoying Afternoon Tea hosted by Coleshill Remembers. The event was organised to bring together families with a connection to the Great War in Coleshill so that Coleshill Remembers could document and collate their histories.

Guests were invited to spend the afternoon sharing family stories of local men who served in WW1, the daily lives of those who stayed behind, and the work of those who volunteered to help in local convalescent hospitals for wounded servicemen.

Displays were presented showing the research completed so far by Coleshill Remembers, complemented by photographs from the Coleshill & District Civic Society archives and artwork produced by pupils at The Coleshill School.

One of the organisers, Dr Jane Veevers, described the afternoon as

“a great success thanks to the hard work of everyone involved and the many guests who attended to share their stories.”

If anyone was unable to attend but is interested in the Coleshill Remembers WW1 project, please get in touch via the website (www.coleshillremembers.co.uk) or by telephone on 01675 463326. We’d love to hear from you.
