National Holocaust Memorial Day Weds 27th Jan 4:15 pm

Holocaust Memorial Day 2021 – Wednesday 27th January –

A message from the Mayor

Hello all,

Today we are broadcasting a special Holocaust Memorial Day event from Coleshill Parish Church.

Each year the Holocaust Memorial Day has a theme and this year it is “Be The Light In The Darkness.” So, we’re asking people to join in and to watch Coleshill’s HMD event online, and to light a tea-light (or candle) in memory of the millions who were persecuted or lost their lives, from all walks of life, from atrocities that have happened worldwide. The Holocaust in Nazi Germany being sadly just one of the many appalling realities, whilst others include the tragedies in Cambodia, Rwanda and Bosnia, unfortunately bringing us up to what is happening now in Darfur.

This local event will be available to view via Coleshill Parish Church’s YouTube link of

and also via their Facebook page

https://m.facebook.com/coleshillparish/

Please join us from 4:15pm for a small, yet significant service, to honour those people who have lost their lives in such tragic events in our history, and disappointing are still suffering in the present day.

We hope you will be able to attend this service at home, and afterwards, when it is safe to do, please pop in to collect an information booklet or a pin badge from the Coleshill Community Hub, on Sumner Road. Please note any donations for pin badges or the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, with be sent directly, in full, to support the much-needed educational work of this important charity.

Availability of Coleshill Town Council outdoor facilities during lockdown from 5th January 2021

Unfortunately, due to the current regulations from Central Government, the following alterations have been made to the availability of our outdoor facilities.  We hope this helps to clarify the situation for everyone and encourage you to look after yourselves as well as you can within the limitations of the current situation.  We hope that you all stay well and look forward to offering the use of these facilities again, when we are directed to do so safely.

The guidance given here is based on the advice as of 5th January 2021 and this may change.  Please always strictly adhere to Central Government Guidance and NHS guidance at all times to keep yourself and others safe.

Tennis courts

Outdoor courts should not be used and they will therefore be locked.

Children’s Play equipment

Specific advice from Government is that these should stay open to use. Please adhere to the advice on the posters on-site regarding Covid-secure use; stay safe and adhere to national restrictions.

 Skatepark

This will be open. Please adhere to the advice on the posters on-site regarding Covid-secure use; stay safe and adhere to national restrictions.

 Outdoor gym equipment items

Unfortunately, the outdoor gym equipment will be out of use and taped off.

 Football pitches

All amateur football games are not permitted.  The Council has removed the goalposts to discourage groups playing and to allow the grass on the goal mouths to recover. We will be carrying out essential maintenance of the pitches during this period.

Coleshill Town Council COVID19 Change to Burial Procedures

Coleshill Town Council is working hard to keep everything running smoothly in Coleshill Cemetery; the latest Government Guidelines state that:

Funerals are allowed with strict limits on attendance, and must only take place in COVID-19 secure venues or in public outdoor spaces unless in exceptional circumstances.

Funerals can be attended by a maximum of 30 people. Linked religious, belief-based or commemorative events, such as stone settings and ash scatterings can also continue with up to 6 people in attendance. Anyone working is not counted in these limits. Social distancing should be maintained between people who do not live together or share a support bubble.

Therefore graveside services and scatterings at Coleshill Cemetery can still continue.

We please ask that people attending the cemetery for services or to visit graves follow the up-to-date Government Guidelines and maintain, at all times, 2m apart from anyone not living in their household or bubble.

Please also ensure you remain 2m apart from any members of staff.

The cemetery remains open but, in order to keep our staff as safe as possible, they will not be opening and closing the gates to our cemetery gates on a daily basis, at the usual times.  They will, however, be on hand when there are burials or scatterings taking place.  There is still some limited parking available on the drive towards the tennis club.
